Iron Chef. Knife Fights. And now, Chef vs Chef.
Hosted by Max’s Harvest in Delray Beach, the weekly culinary throwdown pits 16 of South Florida’s finest chefs against one another in a series of weekly eliminations.
Beginning tonight (Wednesday, June 15) at 9 p.m., the series continues for nearly four months. The one chef left standing then has the right to face off against the defending champion, Café Boulud executive sous chef James Strine (right).
Adam Brown, from The Cooper in Palm Beach Gardens, is among the eight chefs returning to the competition. Newcomers include Kevin Darr, from City Cellar; Jordan Lerman, from Jardin; and Clayton Carnes, from Cholo Soy.
The competition gets under way tonight, when the brackets will be drawn (think NCAA March Madness meets the Food Network). Live cooking rounds begin next Wednesday, June 22, at 9:30 p.m. There’s a $5 cover charge; food and beverages will also be available for purchase during the event, which drew dozens of spectators last year.
Proceeds will benefit Delray Beach’s Milagro Center, a non-profit agency that works to enrich disadvantaged children’s lives through arts education, academic enrichment, values and mentoring.
