This Friday, the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches takes an unprecedented step: The keynote speaker at the 34th Annual Women in Leadership Awards Luncheon is a man.

This year, EWPB welcomes Capt. Mark Kelly, decorated American astronaut and husband of former U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Since the 2011 assassination attempt that robbed Giffords of facile speech, Kelly has bridged the gap in sharing the couple’s message of patriotism, perseverance, and dedication to work and family.
And so Kelly is a fitting voice for the EWPB’s mission and vision: To empower women to succeed and lead, and to be the voice that inspires integrity, equality and leadership in the workplace and in our community.
The Women in Leadership Awards recognize Palm Beach area women who have sustained outstanding accomplishments and displayed generosity of spirit, commitment to integrity and diversity, and genuine connectedness with others.
Honorary event chair this year? Palm Beach Board of Realtors member Virginia Spencer, general manager of Illustrated Properties since 1998 and a longtime advocate for girls’ and women’s organizations.
