Jewelry. Champagne. Worth Avenue
Surely we’ve piqued your interest.
You may know Mark Davis’s one-of-a-kind creations – chunky, bold, geometric statement pieces crafted from bakelite and inlaid with gems and precious metals.
Davis has designed not only the jewelry, but the process by which it’s created. If you think he simply melts down the old plastic, you’re wrong. All his bangles, rings and earrings are made in his Brooklyn workshop using a propriety process that involves laminating and joining upcycled bakelite from a variety of sources.
So now, the local connection: In collaboration with Betteridge, 236 Worth Avenue, Davis is holding a trunk show March 23-25. He’ll showcase an extra-special collection during a champagne reception from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, March 24. A portion of the proceeds from that evening’s sales will be donated to the Hôpital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti, which has worked with sick and impoverished people for more than 60 years.
