Be Like Iris

Swedish sock-and-underwear purveyor Happy Socks has a new designer – 95-year-old fashion icon and part-time Palm Beach resident Iris Apfel.

Featured in the company’s just-released Local Hero collection, Iris has collaborated on a line characterized by vivid colors, striking geometrics and whimsical creatures.

irshp01-6000-421_1.pngOur faves? We just happen to be a little wild for sheep, so we’d have the Lamb Sock (right). But you can also pick birds, bunnies, plaids or tartans; the company gave Iris free reign, and she delivered.

Local Hero is a partnership between Happy Socks and well-known figures who have made an impression on their community through their work. The designs are exclusive to Happy Socks and available only for a limited time.

Launched in 2008, Happy Socks endeavors to spread happiness by introducing creative, colorful designs to everyday essentials like socks and unders, with rigid quality and craftsmanship standards. “Simply put,” they assert, “there’s a pair of high-quality socks and underwear for every occasion, mindset and style.” We especially like the Happy Socks Code of Conduct, which spells out the brand’s commitment to fair labor practices in all its manufacturing locations.

We can’t seem to find Happy Socks on the island yet, but you can put your hands on a few pair at Nordstrom The Gardens (3111 PGA Boulevard, Palm Beach Gardens) or order online.

Next trick? Convince Palm Beachers to actually wear socks…
