We find ourselves wondering. Is it just a coincidence that the Kravis Center has included a troupe of silver entertainers in its 25th anniversary season schedule?
This fall we’ll be writing more – a lot more – about the just-released 2016-17 schedule. But we thought it would be fun to start off with a look at some of the more… unusual acts in the lineup.
The Aluminum Show: A “bold, multisensory explosion that transforms visual theater, dance and humor into an otherworldly experience.” It’s the story of one man’s journey to a parallel universe made entirely of aluminum. We really can’t begin to describe it (think Blue Man Group turns silver and then goes shopping at Home Depot), so pop over to YouTube to watch the video. (Saturday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.; tickets start at $20 and will go on sale Sept. 9.)
The Underwater Bubble Show: The very next day, we travel to Bubblelandia, “a blissful ocean utopia where colors explode and dreams take flight.” The family-oriented show uses laser technology, soap-bubble tornadoes and optical illusions, which will delight children. (Sunday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.; tickets start at $15 and will go on sale Sept. 9.)
Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions: This tour’s promotional material calls it the must-see video game concert of the year. We truly do not mean to be snobbish, but are there a great many video-game concerts out there? Think bright and brassy symphonic arrangements, costumed audience members and on-screen battles. (Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m.; tickets start at $20 and will go on sale Oct. 1.)
Visit the Kravis online to see the complete season schedule. Most tickets for the 2016-17 25th Anniversary Season will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1.
